Woonblok.nl was launched in 2006 as a classified advertising platform for real estate. Woonblok.nl was sold to Direct Wonen, a publicly traded company, in Januari of 2008.

The leading association of Dutch real estate agents (the NVM) estimates that 35.000 homes are sold in The Netherlands each month.

With the increasing Internet penetration in The Netherlands, it will become second nature for many sellers to not only list their property with their real estate agent, but also directly on the Internet.
