Background

Skwortsow Koster Media Group (SKMG) BV is a Dutch corporation, founded in 1999, which focuses on operating consumer Internet services that are focused around certain niches which are fundamental in online consumer media, such as classifieds, photo sharing and social networking.

In late 1999, Nathan Skwortsow (1977) and Rob Koster (1977) met in college while studying for a bachelor's degree in Digital Communications. Nathan & Rob quickly found that they not only shared an enthusiasm for developing websites, but also shared a philosophy in which online services should aid in facilitating social contacts between people. SKMG believes that websites should be people-focused, rather than technology-focused.

In early 2000, SKMG launched the student housing site Kamernet.nl, which quickly became the de facto method for Dutch students to find affordable housing. To this day, Kamernet.nl has absolute dominance in its niche.

Since the launch of Kamernet.nl, more than a million users registered with the service and hundreds of thousands of rooms were advertised. An impressive feat, considering that The Netherlands only has 16 million inhabitants. Nearly all Dutch students register with the service.

In early 2002, after Kamernet.nl was succesfully launched, SKMG launched their dating service Lexa.nl, which achieved a number one position in the Dutch online dating market and helped many thousands of Dutch singles to find the love of their life. Lexa.nl set a new standard for Dutch dating sites, having introduced large-scale singles-parties, video-chatting and new matching technologies.

Lexa.nl was sold to Meetic (PAR: MEET) in 2006.

Kamernet.nl was sold to Direct Wonen (AIM: DIWO) in 2008.

SKMG believes that both Kamernet.nl and Lexa.nl have not only helped Dutch society but have also improved the virtual landscape of the Dutch Internet.

With its extensive experience and good track record, SKMG continues to create innovative concepts and to improve on existing concepts, all based around a niche in consumer-oriented online services. In The Netherlands, Europe and world-wide.
